Overview

A leading organisation within the power and renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to oversee the strategic and operational direction of its engineering division. This role will suit a proven leader who can drive excellence across design, grid connection, and infrastructure delivery — ensuring innovation, compliance, and quality on every project.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering grid and infrastructure projects (20kV–220kV).

• Oversee design, specification, and technical reviews across all major projects.

• Provide strategic leadership, technical guidance, and mentorship to engineering teams.

• Manage budgets, business plans, and performance for the engineering function.

• Support business development and tender activities.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and health & safety requirements.

• Promote continuous improvement and drive engineering innovation within the organisation.

About You

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Chartered status desirable).

• 10+ years of engineering leadership experience in utilities, renewables, or infrastructure.

• Strong technical background in grid connection, substation, or overhead line design.

• Skilled in engineering software such as PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, or equivalent.

• Commercially astute with strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.

• Forward-thinking, safety-focused, and passionate about renewable energy growth.
